South Korean fashion designer Andre Kim showcased his 2011 spring/summer collection in Beijing, China, on Monday.
A crowd of 400 people gathered at the Beijing New China International Exhibition Centre to catch a glance of the new creations from one of Korea’s most renowned fashion designers.
Inspired by China’s rich history and grandiose style, his latest collection was filled with elements reminiscent of China’s traditional culture.
Through the use of silk, Kim attempted to create a juxtaposition of traditional Chinese attire and contemporary high-street wear and colours.
The 76-year-old eccentric also incorporated a wide range of concepts into his latest garments including traditional Korean patterns as well as futuristic and Renaissance-inspired designs.
The most prominent colours on display were pastel shades of pink, blue and yellow, and along with Silk the most used textile was tweed.
Kim is well regarded in Korea for dedication to the promotion of Korean culture through fashion. This show proved that his flamboyant works are generating popularity in China as well.
